Foundation Huacaya Alpacas

Kahlua is one of my favorite foundation dams. She's a well built Chilean/Peruvian alpaca with density and tight crimp. She is a mahogany color. She has uniformity over the blanket but is now demonstrating guard hair. She is a sweet, solid proven female, not at all shy and fairly easy going. Easy to handle, doesn't mind being touched. Her offspring display the genes of the sire. She is an excellent mom who births without trouble and nurses easily. She's a great mom, delivers without trouble and nurses without issue. She loves carrots and is quite a piggy when it comes to them. Kahlua has a female cria at side, born in November who will be weaned by her mama naturally. I believe Kahlua has one more breeding before she is retired. Her selected "date" will be with the true black male, Malachi. breeding is planned for spring 2024.

Wow! what can I say about this beauty - True Black, with lustrous bundles of soft fleece with lovely handle, with nice conformation including bite. She has very little guard hair in her fleece and produced over 4.5 pounds of 5" long staple blanket fleece. She has a sweet but shy personality but carries her mother's tight crimped fleece character, soft handle and disposition. She carries gray in her lineage and gave birth to a white male cria in September 2017. She has a strong Accoyo lineage and was bred to Sebastain On Christmas Eve 2018, Onxy gave birth to a healthy, vigorous 20 pound light fawn female cria. On Oct. 10, she delivered a lovely true black 16 pound female cria.

Lexi is a big boned, fine fleeced female out of Accoyo American Zion. She has produced two lovely cria who demonstrate and carry fleece fineness, density, and architecture of her pedigree. Her first cria was a white male, and second a bay black female.

This little girl is a true test of my older Hemingway male and he delivered the goods. Its a female and she carries the strong frame and carriage of Hemingway as well as the heavy fleece weight with crimp. She not only carries Hemingway genes but also Snowmass Jericho's Conquistador, NWA Ike, Dracula, Pascual and other true Accoyos. Her Accoyo lineage is deep. Brexie produced a lovely female cria in 2021 and I am waiting for the 2023 cria! I am sure she will not disappoint! Although she is not a show animal, her pedigree and offspring, demonstrate that with the proper breeding, she can produce high quality offspring. She will be bred later in the summer after birth to Sky Ridge Alpacas Snow King.

Juliet has a pedigree packed with Nautilus, Hemingway, Caligula and multiple Snowmass genes and combined with Santo, a Hemingway Grandson, have produced a lovely boy with bright white fleece. It was almost electric at birth! Juliet is a big girl with heaviness of bone, nice straight back and legs, soft fleece. She produces lovely cria in an easy fashion. Her biggest drawback is a skin issue - like other true peruvian alpacas, she has skin issues. She has been treated for mites and other issues, but summer hates her! she is very attractive to flies and dry skin, so has to be treated regularly during the summer months. Winter time seems to be her favorite time because the skin issues disappear. Despite that, she has lovely fleece - lovely handle, nice fineness. I bred her to my best males and have wonderful cria that I sell or add to the herd. She is a low budget female with good genetics that can take your herd into the future - she just has these issues that someone with more time can address.

Sunburst is a new addition to the female foundation herd, purchased from Peter and Susan Goodwin. She brings Snowmass genetics, increased density and proven ability to produce lovely cria. She will be bred to Snow King for a 2024 cria. Sunburst's color is actually lighter than medium fawn and she carries an unusual eye color. Her 2020 cria is amazing!

Alpine Love is a Snowmass bred female out of the award winning Snowmass Loro Piana line. She produced a lovely 2023 male cria who is stunning and has personality! She joins the herd as a foundation female who will improve the herd quality and fleece characteristics while also producing offspring that I hope will be future award winners.

Camarena is a very strong proven female with lovely, lustrous fleece with great crimp and handle. Her confirmation and bite are good, and she has a nice sold frame. She has produced two male and two female cria while on my farm. Her son, American Chestnut is an award winning male. Her 2025 female cria was sired by Felicia's X Factor, a championship award winning herdsire. I am hopeful for her offspring in the showring.

Prosecco is a big girl, light beige with a brown spot.
